In our GO MAD training we were asked to bring a song that inspired or motivated us. We then went around the room and explained why we had chosen that particular song.
After putting them all on a playlist to play during the breaks, our trainer spoke about the power of words and positive thinking. He explained that we can create new neural pathways in our brains through the use of repetition.
This could be some kind of message, quote or affirmation that we say to ourselves daily (or many times daily). Equally, it could be a song we listen to in order to re-affirm a belief, or to make us feel happy, inspired, motivated etc.
One example he used was how for months and months his alarm wake up was I Feel Good by James Brown (until his wife made him change it)!
So, inspired by our newfound knowledge, we have gathered together a variety of our favourite 'inspirational songs' that we like to listen when we need an extra push.
A couple of us used music to improve our sporting performance. Whether that was to get us pumped up or to remind us why we're exercising in the first place, it has proved to be really useful!
Also, a few of us feel connected to particular songs because it reminds us of a time in our lives or people that are important to us.
